2001
The inception of
Toyota Club Singapore (TCS) came about with the intention to provide an efficient channel of communication for like-minded Toyota enthusiasts to gather, interact and discuss over their beloved Toyota cars in a casual, fun environment.
Founded initially as
Singapore Toyota Club (STC), the club embarked on its humble beginnings on 22 January 2001, the platform of the Delphi Forums and drew keen interest from Toyota owners all over Singapore.
2002
Moving ahead from its online platform, the club expanded its activity scope to include gatherings and meet-ups, knowledge-sharing DIY sessions and also the creation of a dynamic group identity with the distribution of STC decals and polo t-shirts thanks to the efforts of Tosuperman and his diligent pair of moderators in Lawson and Viktor up to 2002.
In the later part of 2002, a wind of sweeping changes began as a new group of members sought to take TCS to the next level. From its humble beginnings,
STC had grown in numbers and interest. This was clearly evident in the
Mega Meet Up of September 2002, organised by Alan aka 456GT, which drew an enthusiastic congregation of over 80 Toyota cars of all makes and various other Toyota-enthusiast groups such as
Celica SG,
Singapore Altezza Club and the
Singapore Starlet Club.
In November 2002, the reins of STC were handed over to Alan and his new team of moderators from Tosuperman, with the same objective of further promoting the identity and presence of TCS with the ultimate goal of official recognition as a car club in Singapore.
2003The new team of moderators went on to successfully organise various social activities for STC such as the
Countdown 2003 Celebration, which was featured on
HotStuff Magazine brought STC to the public.
An official registration to effectively organise and manage the growing roll of members was conducted with the aim of bringing more perks to members, such as discount packages and privileges from assorted motor and lifestyle-related vendors.
May 2003 marked another milestone for the club as the old name STC was renamed as
Toyota Club Singapore with the aim of facilitating the club's registration with the
Singapore Registry Of Societies (ROS).
As a follow-up to this new beginning, a newly designed decal and Polo-Tee for registered members was distributed to replace the previous STC version.
Throughout 2003, many major and weekly events, both social and instructional were organised throughout the year of 2003 by the moderators and members. These include Car Appreciation Meet Ups, BBQ sessions, DIY sessions, Group Purchases and Movie gatherings.
With increased interaction between members, the club was able to successfully piece together TCS' main event of the year, which was the
2nd TCS Mega Meet Up on 27th September 2003 at Turf City.
Like the first Mega Meet-up of September 2002, this event drew enthusiastic response from all Toyota enthusiasts but was more massive in terms of scale, drawing members from new Toyota sub-groups such as the
IST club,
Singapore Wish Club and
Rav4 Expedition in addition to regular sub-groups such as
Celica SG,
Singapore Altezza and
Starlet clubs.
The event drew a massive attendance of more than 250 cars and received airtime in
HotStuff Magazine and in the
Straits Times.
2004
As the club trekked further on its journey, it received a big boost when Registry of Societies(
http://www.mha.gov.sg/ros) approved TCS' application for registration as an official club on 26 January 2004.
TCS became a registered car club managed under
Car Enthusiasts' Club (Singapore). With this registration, the club continues to grow in number as well as in strength and unity with the strong bonds forged between members and with continued in-depth discussion online on the Delphi Forums for the benefit of all registered members and Toyota enthusiasts alike.
With more plans for the future in the pipeline and support of all members, TCS can only continue to grow and journey on the path to becoming one of the most successful car clubs in Singapore and yet retain the spirit of fellowship that it began with - A place for all Toyota owners to gather as friends to share their passion and interest in their various beloved makes of Toyotas.
