World's Best-Selling Car: TOYOTA

Vehicles were originally sold under the name "Toyoda", from the family name of the company's founder, Kiichirō Toyoda. In 1936, the company ran a public competition to design a new logo. A lot of entries the winning entry was the three Japanese katakana letters for "Toyoda" in a circle. But one of Toyoda family preferred "Toyota" because it took eight brush strokes to write in Japanese, was visually simpler and with a voiceless consonant instead of a voiced one. So they change trademark and the company was registered in August 1937 as the "Toyota Motor Company".

From the day, TOYOTA has grown to a large multinational corporation from where it started and expanded to different worldwide markets and countries. Then it displaced GM and became the world's largest automobile maker for the year 2008. So now, TOYOTA becomes the biggest automaker, and also largest company in Japan and overseas.
